Cost Accountant

We are seeking a Cost Accountant to join our team in Raleigh, NC and contribute to our ongoing success. This role is on site, you'll be required to be located at our production facility/offices in Raleigh, NC.

Position Mission You’ll be responsible for creating and monitoring standard cost metrics across the company as well as analyzing and reporting on purchase and manufacturing variances. We are looking to establish and maintain a perpetual inventory system, and this role will be an integral part of that and ensuring the integrity thereof. This role will work in close collaboration with supply chain, purchasing, production, and warehousing departments. You will be deeply involved in change management, as well as systems improvement and implementation. Who you’ll work with: Supply Chain, Purchasing, Logistics, Production, Warehouse, Operations teams. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: COST ACCOUNTING: Review and maintain standard cost and variance reporting metrics and monthly analyticsAssist in creating bill of material for each product and update periodically as necessaryDevelop cost standards for labor, overhead, and freight by product categoryIn depth knowledge of price, volume, mix, labor and overhead impacts across the organizationEstablish gross margin metrics by product category and make recommendations to management on pricing strategy MONTH END CLOSE: Coordinate and oversee integrity and controls of monthly physical inventory counts.Record inventory unit and rate adjustments in the system within month end close deadlinesPerform monthly variance analysis and present findings to department heads and executive teamsAssist with year-end physical inventory observations in coordination with external auditorsConduct internal audits of inventory costing to ensure accuracy of financial records PROCESS IMPROVEMENT: Work with IT team and SAP consultants to drive process improvement and automation to scaleAssist department in buildout of robust ERP best practices for tracking and maintain inventory in SAPWork closely with supply chain and purchasing teams to improve procurement, receiving, and consumption of raw materials Skills, Intellectual Demands and Job Requirements: EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or financeMinimum 5+ yrs of relevant experience in a manufacturing environmentERP experience with SAP experience strongly preferred.Implementation of Product Costing and Backflush experience preferred.
