📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
The City of Carthage is seeking applicants for a full-time City Attorney. The City Attorney plans, organizes, directs and controls the provision of legal services to and for the City; provides legal advice and guidance to the City Council, City Administrator, and City Departments. This position performs a variety of administrative, technical and professional work in managing and overseeing the prosecution of crimes, civil litigation and the preparation of legal documents.
Candidates shall have a license to practice law in the state of Missouri with three (3) to five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional experience in municipal or other government law including trial experience and a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
The starting salary for this position is $73,944. The City of Carthage offers a highly competitive benefits package that includes Missouri LAGERS Retirement System, health, life, and long-term disability insurance, dental and vision insurance, a 457(b) deferred compensation plan, and a flexible spending account. Employees also receive paid vacation and sick leave along with 12 paid holidays and one personal leave day.
