Journeyman Plumber

Pay Range: $22.02 - $27.52/hr

$2,000 Sign-On Incentive***

Workdays & Hours: This position offers a 4-day work week. Shift hours are 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday or 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Tuesday – Friday, depending on business needs.

This position is on call on a rotating basisOvertime required

A Journeyman Plumber job is available with the City of Fort Worth – Property Management, Facilities division. The Facilities division performs routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing systems and equipment in City owned buildings, including fire stations, libraries and community centers.

This position qualifies for the following incentive which is separate from the base pay:

$2,000 Sign-On Incentive: 50% paid after the completion of first pay period, 50% paid after the completion of 6 months of employment.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in plumbingTwo years responsible experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems and equipmentValid Texas Driver’s LicenseTexas Journeyman Plumber’s licenseCandidate selected for hire must pass Pre-Employment Drug Screen, Physical and Criminal Background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in large commercial buildings (10,000+ sq ft)Experience running service calls

The Journeyman Plumber’s Job Responsibilities Include

Performs maintenance and repair of plumbing systems and equipment at Fire Stations, Police Stations, Community Centers, Libraries and other City owned buildings.Plans and participates in all phases of rough and finished plumbing work involved in construction, alteration, repair and maintenance.Installs pumps, water heaters, faucets and other fixtures; repairs, replaces and cleans sewer lines.Repairs and extends existing plumbing facilities.Replaces leaky faucets, washers and commodes.

Physical Demands

Heavy Work - This position is defined as heavy work. Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

Working Conditions

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
