Sr. Transportation Planner

Pay Range: $33.13/hr. - $43.07/hr.

A Sr. Transportation Planner job is available with the City of Fort Worth Development Services Department. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing and implementing a variety of transportation planning activities that include data analysis, property research, development reviews, and strategic plan creation and implementation. The candidate must have experience with taking a leadership role in planning, managing and overseeing projects, and may play a lead role in coordinating cross-functional or interdepartmental project teams. Under the general supervision of the Senior Professional Engineer, Traffic Engineering, this position organizes, or assists with organizing and coordinating, community input processes and making community presentations. The position will be expected to work with the implementation of the City of Fort Worth Complete Streets Policy, the Access Management Policy and the Master Thoroughfare Plan. The position is a supervisory position with at least one direct report and will be responsible for evaluating the job performance of the direct report(s). This position requires occasional evening and weekend work.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Planning, Urban Planning or Design, Civil Engineering, Public Administration, Urban Geography, or a related field.Five (5) years of work experience in transportation planning, urban planning /design, workforce development or related field.Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

Municipal Government experience.Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GIS.Preferred supervisory experience and registration or eligibility for registration as a Certified Planner.Extensive public contact experience.

The Sr. Transportation Planner Job Responsibilities Include

Communicate with architects, developers, builders, attorneys, contractors, engineers, and the general public and other entities regarding City planning and development policies and standards.Review, evaluate and prepare written reports with recommendations, make oral presentations to various boards, commissions and other groups on a variety of development projects.Experience in site plan, subdivision plan, and construction plan review. GIS mapping and to work with databases to develop reports and plans.Coordinate with the Planning and Development Department in regards to Transportation Impact Fees, Zoning Commission, City Plan Commission and Board of Adjustment cases.Serve as a liaison between the Transportation and Public Works Department and the Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Commission, and the Development Review Committee.Represent the department at meetings with other agencies, City departments and private organizations.Review the work plan for the direct report(s), review and assign work products, methods and procedures.Comfortable with reading and analyzing federal, state and local regulations in order to apply them to zoning and subdivision activities.
