Community Development & Events Supervisor - Parks after Dark #41805

Duties: Oversee the daily operations of a multi-faceted programming unit to include the Parks After Dark Program, outdoor recreation, community outreach, small and large scale outdoor special events and the coordination and implementation of youth and adult recreational programs to meet the needs of a diverse population.Plan, coordinate, supervise and evaluate weekly large scale park events, outdoor programs and classes; ensure required outdoor program certifications are maintained by staff, volunteers, and interns;Partner with key stakeholders to understand contributing factors and trends in youth development, juvenile justice, youth behavioral health, pertinent demographic information, citizen priorities, and programming trends; develop and implement strategies to ensure program offerings are current and effectively utilizing resources.Monitor budget; prepare required reports including statistical data for budgetary purposes; track resources and expenditures; purchase needed supplies and equipment for facilities and programs following approved policies; monitory inventory.Effectively negotiate and oversee contracts and service agreements; maintain positive and close working relationships with City Attorney, Commissioner of the Revenue, Risk Management offices as well as other partnering city departments.Recruit, train, and supervise full-time staff including performance evaluation and discipline; foster strong internal and external communications among staff, patrons, and vendors; effectively resolve issues that arise.Set goals and objectives including development of timelines and action plans to achieve them; ensure efficient and effective unit operations.Enforce City policies and procedures and safety practices; recommend and develop unit policies and procedures as needed; oversee the investigation and reporting of accidents and incidents occurring during events and programs.Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.
