📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
The Engineering Technician I/II will review site plans, utility right of way permit applications, and other documents for accuracy, adherence to applicable regulations and design standards, and for impacts to the interests of the Public Utilities Department.
Duties will include, but are not limited to: Use of personal computers, Word, Excel, GIS and other applicationsResearch and interpretation of utility records and construction plansDocumentation of review comments for plan and permit applicationsMaintenance of records for plan and permit reviews, to include filing and data entryAssistance in the calculation of fees and construction cost estimatesField inspection of work for compliance with approved permits. Documentation of inspections with field notes and sketchesAttendance at meetings with developers, consultants, private utility company representatives, contractors, and other City staffCoordination of projects with other Public Utilities staff and other departmentsProviding support to Engineering staff and other related duties as assignedManage time efficiently, prioritizing multiple competing tasks while meeting stated deadlinesExhibiting good interpersonal and communication skills with coworkers, consultants, permit applicants, contractors, and othersOperation of City vehicle, traveling to and from job sites
