Staff Attorney
📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
The Staff Attorney plays a role in negotiating and advising on contracts across Clark’s Building and Infrastructure projects. The Attorney serves as a partner to leaders across the business, also working with outside counsel where appropriate to handle a range of complex owner and subcontractor contracts.
Responsibilities
Analyze, review and draft contracts (construction contracts, subcontracts, and other miscellaneous agreements)Lead negotiation efforts to achieve contract terms consistent with Clark’s corporate standardsProvide legal guidance to corporate leadership on various business and industry related mattersWork with the Department Leadership to provide legal support to Clark and its subsidiariesPrepare and facilitate corporate matters including preparing resolutions and minutes of directors’ and shareholders’ meetings, and other miscellaneous corporate documentsParticipate in dispute avoidance/resolution strategy sessions with departmental and company leadershipIn conjunction with outside counsel, coordinate responses to pleadings, discovery, and demandsProvide training to the organization on a variety of legal topicsProactively identify and develop relationships with industry professionals to generate and win the right workTake an active role in recruiting top industry talent to join the Clark team. Identify, hire, and retain outstanding peopleExceed our stakeholders’ expectations by anticipating their needs, desires, and goals
Basic Qualifications
Juris Doctorate degree from a top accredited law school· Active bar membershipApproximately 2 - 4 years of law firm or clerkship experienceConstruction experience is a plus but not requiredStrong interpersonal skills along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organizationAlignment to Clark Standards of Excellence: Self-Motivated, Results Oriented, Adaptable, Team Player, Accountable, Ethical, Innovative, Resilient, Builds Relationships, Builds People / Teams & Followership, Sets Direction & Executes
