Supply Technician (Armorer) with Security Clearance

Duties * Conduct inventories of weapons, equipment, and ammunition and complete forms and records associated with the arms storage facility operations and ammunition and weapons assigned to personnel. * Conduct a visual count inventory each time the arms storage facility is opened for operations and maintenance, when a change of custody occurs, and each time the arms room is closed. * Maintain files for all arms room operations-related documents in accordance with policies and regulations, and makes them available for periodic inspection. * Open and close the arms storage facility and operates the intrusion detection system (IDS) in accordance with Army and Fort Carson regulations and local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). * Conduct functionality checks of weapons and LMRS prior to issuing to user and upon receipt from user. * Inspect weapons for cleanliness and serviceability upon return from users. Schedule and oversees organizational and periodic maintenance on weapons. * Initiate and process requisitions and purchase requests utilizing the Global Combat Support System-Army or other Government purchasing systems. * Responsible for forecasting, requisitioning, receiving, delivering, transporting, issuing, and reconciling/turning in small arms ammunition and explosives to support weapons ranges field training exercises, and the operational load. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. * This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. * Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights. * The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position. * The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
