Description
Barren River Lake State Resort Park is a water-lovers paradise surrounded by forested, rolling hills. The resort is located near Kentucky’s famous cave area, which includes Mammoth Cave National Park, the longest cave system in the world!
The 18-Hole golf course at Barren River Lake State Resort Park offers a beautiful but challenging 18-holes of golf that is sure to offer an exciting round of golf to beginners and experts alike. The golf course is surrounded by beautiful views of Barren River Lake State Resort Park and breathtaking overlooks of Barren River Lake.
The setting is ideal for an individual, golf group, scrambles and tournaments. The Golf Pro Shop is equipped with food, drink and a selection of golf merchandise for golfers of all ages.
We are currently seeking an individual for the position of Landscape Gardener in our golf maintenance department. The right person will be caring for and maintaining all existing gardens, bushes, and trees on the park. The landscape gardener is also a member of the golf maintenance team, ensuring that the golf course is mowed, trimmed, watered and maintained on a daily basis ensuring that the parks golf course is the best that it can be. We are also looking for someone that can deliver the best customer service possible to our wonderful golfers. Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience in grounds maintenance, golf course greens keeping, landscaping, farming, or other related experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: An associate degree or technical training in horticulture or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. A Kentucky Certified Nurseryman, Certified International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Arborist or other trade certification will substitute for the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions
Work outdoors in all weather conditions. Operate power equipment. Exposed to substances commonly associated with landscaping (pesticides, fertilizers, etc.). Exposed to loud noises and sharp objects.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
