Duties and Responsibilities:The Community College of Denver is seeking a part-time Basic Life Support Instructor to teach Basic Life Support classes in the Colorado Health Careers Academy of Summer 2024.
The Academy introduces students to health careers in Colorado and the educational & career pathways available to them in this industry. Courses will be scheduled for 6 weeks on Fridays in June and July at the Auraria and Lowry campuses.
Under the supervision of the program’s Project Coordinator, instructors will instruct BLS classes for youth, prepare materials, manage classroom behavior, keep attendance for the classes, and perform other duties as assigned.The instructor must be patient and respectful, while also providing their expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display dedication to the class as well as the goals of the program.
This is a temporary, non-exempt hourly position. This position may work up to 10 hours each week and up to 3 months, depending on need and budget availability.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSAn Associate degree or a certificate from an accredited institution Basic Life Support Instructor Certification (American Heart Association)
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (required/minimum)Experience in healthcare or experience teaching in healthcare or related fieldDemonstrated interpersonal and collaboration, and time-management skillsDemonstrated ability to interact with and develop relationship with individuals of diverse populations, including varying social, cultural, economic, and educational backgroundsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other staff members, students, and administrators and be able to be productive in time-sensitive and at times, high-pressured situations.
Experience: (preferred)Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related subfieldExperience providing programming or teaching high school students or young adultsExperience developing summer youth or young adult programsExperience teaching allied health courses
