CMHA is looking to hire a Purchasing Agent for our Finance Department. This position will be located in New Britain.

Position Summary: Performs accounting activities with a focus on payroll including ensuring bi-weekly processing is completed timely and accurately, preparation of schedules and documentation for annual reporting/audits: IRS Form 990, 403b census testing, 403b annual audit, and annual agency financial audit. Prepares data for 403b and employer contributions. Customer focused on providing timely guidance to managers and employees to ensure accuracy of pay and paid time off bank. Assists with other accounting activities and general ledger journal entry posting.

Maintains and processes employee payroll and mileage expense requests. Prepares assigned general ledger entries and posting in financial software. Provides payroll related guidance and expertise to managers and employees to ensure accuracy of pay and paid time off bank. Prepares ad hoc payroll check requests in a tight turn-around time frame. Verifies time keeping records and maintains time and attendance system. Approves and processes employee tax and direct deposit changes, wage garnishments, off- cycle manual checks. Verified and reconciles W2’s prior to issuance. Maintains detailed and accurate documentation. Maintains confidentiality of all payroll related information. Completes IRS Form 941 reconciliation. Acts as a member of the 403b retirement committee. Assembles data and assists with various audits and preparation of IRS Form 990. Assists with payroll software updates and addition of modules. Performs other related accounting duties and general ledger journal entry posting as assigne

Requirements

Payroll software experience required, with Paycor software a plus. Bi-weekly payroll processing for an organization with 300+ employees, preferably a minimum of three years. General accounting knowledge and ability to record general ledger entries. Completes data analysis and reconciliations to ensure accuracy of data and to support audits. Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED required; bachelor’s degree in accounting or business preferred.

COMPENSATION RANGE- $25.00-$30.00 an hour
