JOB TITLE: Food ScientistLocation: Chicago, IL, 60607Duration: 12 monthsHOURS: Approximately 40 hours per weekWork Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM
JOB DESCRIPTION:• Calculate global nutrient profiling for innovations and ensure compliance with internal guardrails• Validate new ingredients for protein quality calculations ensuring compliance with internal guardrails• Administrator to the Protein Quality Calculator• Track our internal publications and update our publication list that is housed on our Healthcare Professional website• Evaluate and translate scientific data in response to fulfilling unmet consumer need for global Beverages and Foods businesses.• Commission literature reviews on various nutrition topics as needed• Review of nutrition materials for scientific accuracy and compliance with internal guidelines
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/DEGREE AND FIELD:• MSc/Ph.D. degree in Nutritional Science, Biochemistry or a closely related field• BS. Food Engineering is a plus
MINIMUM YEARS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:• At least 2 years of work experience in Health and Nutrition Science or a closely related field.• Prior experience in a Nutrition role within the food industry, preferably at a global food or food ingredient manufacturer
SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB:• Proficient in conducting mass balances and calculations related to product formulation• Strong experience with Excel and calculations• Ability to translate complex technical information into concise and understandable material for varying audiences• Strong experience with PubMed• Understanding of dietary guidelines• Understanding of FDA and global regulations, including guidelines for making protein-related claims• Experience conducting nutritional evidence assessments for claim substantiation• Experience using product software such as Genesis or Product Vision• Ability to focus and getting important things done in a timely fashion• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of cross-functional teams• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and fast-moving projects simultaneously• Effectively communicate across technical and non-technical audiences• Excellent writing, reporting, and presenting skills• Detail oriented and organized
