Quality Engineer

Job Title: Quality EngineerLocation: Lansing, MISalary: $85,000 - $100,000 (depending on experience)Direct Hire Opportunity with excellent Benefits!

Summary: As a Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting new product/process development and manufacturing by applying quality engineering techniques. You will manage multiple projects and tasks throughout product development, launch, and manufacturing phases, ensuring that products meet quality standards consistent with customer and regulatory requirements. In this role, you will represent the organization and regularly interface with customers. Additionally, you will support plant activities related to customer and supplier issues, driving corrective actions with a focus on process improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Provide support in adhering to quality management systems.Create and maintain company documentation, including quality documents, procedures, and work instructions.Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process for assigned projects/parts, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet customer quality requirements.Review contracts for customer-specific requirements.Keep assigned Plex workflow actions current.Determine metrics/product characteristics for inspection and select appropriate inspection methods/devices.Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to assess critical product characteristics and apply statistical process control (SPC) tools and methods as required.Assist in the qualification of new products/launch activities.Prepare documentation for product inspection and sample submissions (PPAP, FAI, FMEAs, Control Plans, etc.).Conduct/coordinate measurement evaluations and tests (FAI, Gage R&R, MSA).Lead and participate in Corrective/Preventive Action teams to resolve customer, supplier, and production concerns.Work with relevant stakeholders to eliminate defects using root cause analysis, lean techniques, Six Sigma, etc.Maintain knowledge of government, customer, and industry standards and specifications.Communicate significant issues identified during quality activities and recommend process improvements.Participate in Material Review Board meetings to establish timely disposition of Non-Conforming Material.Support and instruct inspectors and create work instructions.Train associates on key product characteristics to enhance product quality awareness.Participate in and initiate continual improvement activities.Complete customer submissions/uploads and create Certificate of Conformance certs for the product.Perform quality-related activities for Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Product Change Requests (PCRs).
