Associate Prototype Technician - Contract to potential Direct Hire

Position Summary:Fabricates prototype parts, ensuring the end product conforms to requirements identified on the work order, customer blueprint, and/or specifications.

Primary Responsibilities:Sets up, operates, and maintains, under supervision, equipment required to fabricate basic prototype partsWorks with Senior Engineering Technician to gain experience on all the fabricating equipment and processes we use in the prototype groupProduces prototype fabrications in a timely and quality mannerMaintains accurate records of all time and expenses incurred in the fabrication of each prototype orderMust operate in a manner that reinforces, supports, and is consistent with the Cooper Standard Leadership ModelEnsures 6S, housekeeping, and health and safety standards are maintainedMay, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description

Education and Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent requiredTwo Year College Degree or applicable Technical Training and Certification is preferredFabrication, blueprint reading skills, and equipment knowledge preferredStrong mechanical aptitudeAbility to exchange basic information with common courtesyAbility to lift up to thirty pounds regularlyWillingness and ability to travel, as necessary

Work Environment/Work Conditions:Professional Office EnvironmentMust wear proper personal protection equipment while on the manufacturing floorTravel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when requiredEquipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury
