Short Description
Responsible for designing a treatment plan and carrying out dose calculations based on the Radiation Oncologist's prescribed course of radiotherapy or brachytherapy.
Responsible for data recording and management related to patient radiotherapy and brachytherapy treatment.
Responsible for assisting the Radiation Therapists in the simulation and setup verification of treatment delivery.
Responsible for assisting the Medical Physicists in the quality management practices for ensuring appropriate patient treatment and appropriate use of computer hardware and software, and other equipment.
Experience Required
Required to maintain MDCB ceritification by obtaining 50 MDCB Continuing Education (CE) credits every 5 years.
Must have outstanding knowledge about human anatomy and physiology, tumor pathology, radiobiology, radiation dose calculations and terminology, computer applications and technology, and dosimetry techniques, and procedures required to carry out the prescribed treatment plan.
Must be organized and able to work independently.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Education Requirements
Graduate of a JRCERT (Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology) accredited Medical Dosimetry Program.
AND
Hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
License/Certification Requirements
MDCB (Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board Certified;
OR
MDCB Board eligible
