HVDC Cable Specialist Job Summary

Onshore HVDC Cable Prototype manufacturing

Q3 2024 ( august ) – Q3 2026 (not continuously) 320 man-days Scope of work The contractual agreements with the cable manufacturer result in a number of requirements, instructions and conditions with regard to the manufacture of cables. The aim of production monitoring is to record those and to monitor and document the compliance during production accordingly. Furthermore, the person is to be available to the client in an advisory capacity for any problems that may arise and to actively cooperate in solving the problem. For these tasks, the person or persons are to be provided over the project period of the production in accordance with the production processes and in coordination with the Client project management.

HVDC Cable Specialist Responsibilities

Production monitoring and quality assurance during the production of HVDC2 land cables Regular reports on production highlighting all anomalies, if any Evaluation and review of internal cable manufacturing process protocols provided by cable manufacturer and their process failure mode effect analysis (P-FMEA) Submit reports based on inspection and review of both internal manufacturing protocols and P-FMEA Participation and supervision of cable testing during and after cable production3, if required This includes participation in any disassembly activities to examine cables and their accessories Assist in the investigation of cable defects in identifying root cause and assist in improving production processes after defect evaluation, if required Actively assist in the preparation of NCR (Non-Conformance Reports), in case of non-conformity, the AG is immediately informed by the inspector Weekly and/or monthly reports on the general quality situation in the factory Summary report on the overall monitoring of the cable manufacturing process Preparation of a schedule with the detailed monitoring activities based on the production schedule of the manufacturer

HVDC Cable Specialist Position Requirements

Experience in XLPE high voltage cable manufacturing, ideally HVDC onshore and submarine cables including their application Detailed and long-term experience with XLPE cable manufacturing processes as well as failure analysis of XLPE cable production processes is a must have Expert knowledge and experience with HV testing techniques, applicable international standards, and high voltage test equipment Expert knowledge of DC insulation materials and failure analysis techniques, e.g. FMCEA (Failure Mode Cause and Effect Analysis) Expert knowledge of HVDC cable accessories and their interface with DC XLPE cable systems Fluency in English both written and spoken Same requirement will be needed for the local language at the production site of the cable manufacturer German language skills are desirable High degree of independence, initiative, team and interpersonal skills as well as a high degree of flexibility, willingness to travel Knowledge in SHE: Safety, Health and Environment (for observations and contributions to improvements) Knowledge in the use of standard IT software and hardware (MS Office, PDF, AutoCAD) Driving license class B
