📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Description The Communications Assistant Intern will help develop and implement communications strategies to increase overall reach and brand awareness. They will use print media and digital media outlets to promote active campaigns, engage the public and increase online presence. The Communications Assistant will directly contribute to increasing CCE’s capacity to provide educational opportunities to Ulster County residents by increasing public awareness of opportunities and support available from the office and communicating progress on specific CCEUC campaigns.
This opportunity is based in Ulster County, NY, and our office is located in Kingston. Interns are welcome to work hybrid or in-person if desired and able. Otherwise, fully remote/virtual is completely acceptable.This opportunity is unpaid, and the incumbent must receive course credit. Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Outreach & Engagement Manager in daily marketing and outreach related tasksAssist in generating written and audio-visual content for printed and digital publications, social media, and other outletsImplement customer relations management (CRM) strategy and maintain database to further fundraising and development effortsIdentify and implement social media trends for CCE to further establish digital presence Develop a social media strategy to support the organization’s program outreach and fundraising activities, and establish targets for increasing online reach Post regular updates to CCEUC’s social media outlets, including news articles, blog posts, press releases, fundraising appeals, educational tips and facts, and any other promotional items Monitor activity and user interactions for all social media outlets Adapt general CCEUC campaign messaging for the different outlet-specific audiences Assist in ensuring digital content meets Digital Accessibility standards Qualifications Experience using key social media outlets (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn) Strong writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail Ability to use online tools to engage members, donors, and corporate partners Outgoing, enthusiastic and creative Works well independently and as part of a team Bilingualism an asset Benefits and recognition This position provides valuable experience for Communications, Agricultural, Family & Consumer Sciences and Youth Development Studies, and Non-Profit Management students; individuals with an interest in gaining experience in the non-profit sector or in the informal education and outreach field; and anyone with a passion for getting science and research to the community to increase community vitality and resiliency.
