The Company
Our client is a global, fast growing food manufacturer. Selling globally to some of the largest names in Food & Beverage, they’re experiencing rapid growth and are seeking an R&D Manager to champion all New Product Development, Commercialization and product launch trials.
The Opportunity
Reporting to a Site Leader with a dotted line to the President, this position is responsible for directing and coordinating all R&D, Product Development and Pilot plant trials new product development for North American customer channels.Champion all Product Development trials, and commercialization new product launches for USA customers.
Key Accountabilities
Recognized as a technical mentor and subject matter expert to colleagues and management.Responsible for developing and testing formulas and processes for new products, quality improvements and cost reductions ensuring regulatory compliance.Assist with oversight of daily plant activities including quality and regulatory requirements.Performance evaluation, recruiting, training, on-boarding and if necessary disciplinary actions.Be part of Joint Health, Safety and Environment committees and initiatives.Responsible for continuous improvement of all operations to include safety, production planning, procurement, output, product quality, timely/accurate shipping, inventory control and all other functions related to R&D and Product Development.Member of the company's management team, working cross-functionally with QA and Operations and Executive team.Health and Safety policies and WSIB case management. Member of the JH&SC (certified).
Desired Skills & Qualifications
Degree / Diploma in Engineering, Food Science or related fields is preferred. Masters degree is an asset.5+ years of Product R&D in Food, Chemicals, Ingredients, Nutraceuticals or related.New Product Development Methodology, Stage Gate process and project management skillsOrganizational and analytic skillsStrong Cross-Functional Leadership and Teamwork.A bias for action and be comfortable with navigating complexity and ambiguityKnowledge of HACCP and Pre-requisite Programs
