📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
While we focus broadly on developing school capacity and providing access to new resources for our Title I schools, our primary work is Community Works. Community Works is all about neighborhood reinvestment based on a model of relocation and in-the-streets work in our neighborhoods of most significant need.
Our goal? A neighborhood-wide improvement in social interaction and supportive relationships and expectations for kids. The same supportive relationships that leading researchers say have a fundamental influence on the trajectory of child development. We are looking for nature enthusiasts to support our garden development and assist with planting trees, turning compost, harvesting, and more. We will start at 7 00 am and be finished by 10 00 am. We provide gloves, hand sanitizer, and water.
There's no previous experience or knowledge needed. We will provide all education, equipment, and supplies. All you need is appropriate shoes, a readiness to connect with nature, and a desire to learn and help.
Depending on your preferences, this volunteer position could be a one-time volunteer event or an ongoing, long-term volunteer position.
This community garden initiative will help improve food access in our Title I school community by providing people with education on growing, preparing, and eating healthy fruits and vegetables while giving them the resources to do so!
Our mission is to build an innovative and water-friendly way of growing food that utilizes a combination of growing methods perfect for desert agriculture.
