Job Description

Senior or Executive Specialist – Environmental & Complex General Liability Claims

Crum & Forster is looking for a self-starter who enjoys being a key part of a dynamic claims team. Manage an assigned pending of claims including environmental pollution claims, toxic tort, general liability bodily injury and property damage claims and/or professional liability claims under a variety of pollution insurance products and general liability policies, both primary and excess. Operate under appropriate levels of supervision and within established authority. The position will report to the assigned Manager and can be located in Morristown, Jersey City or fully remote in U.S.

What You Will Do For C&F

Receives environmental pollution, toxic tort, general liability, and/or professional liability claim assignmentsVerifies and determines applicability of coverageDrafts the appropriate coverage analysis letterDetermines the level of investigation and vendor involvement necessary for each claim and assigns legal and/or non-legal vendors in accordance with company proceduresReports directly on loss development to senior management, underwriting, actuary and reinsurance in accordance with company proceduresEvaluates and manages both litigated and non-litigated claims, determines future course of handling and best method for resolutionConsults and reports to senior management regarding claims that exceed or may exceed assigned authorityInvestigates risk transfer and/or recovery potential and is responsible for the development of the information required to be successfully in the pursuitAccountable for the equitable and prompt adjustment and management of assigned claims to disposition in accordance with company Best PracticesResponsible for providing superior customer service to all brokers, insureds and others encountered during the claims handling process

What You Will Bring To C&F

At least 5+ years of experience handling complex general liability and/or environmental pollution and/or toxic tort and/or professional liability claims under both pollution products and general liability policiesCollege degree, Environmental Sciences background and/or law degree a plusWill abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F’s risk management controlsExcellent verbal and written communication skills (writing sample required)Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs and the ability to learn in-house programsSome travel may be required

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $64,700.00 to a maximum of $147,100.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
