We are looking for a talented Forge Press Operator to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Components Business Segment in Morristown, TN.

Summary

Forging Technician is responsible for all general set ups on forging presses. Including sprayers and billet track adjustments. Ensuring all set ups are done in a safe and organized manner. Using the appropriate tools and techniques’ to perform the set ups and press operations safely and by the set up (Master Card).

Qualifications

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or (GED) High school equivalent diploma or Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience using manufacturing equipment/machinery. National Career Readiness Certificate level silver preferred but not required.

Must have mechanical and trouble shooting abilities on forging presses and sprayers.

Must be able to perform set ups using the (set up master card). To use different power tools such as; impact wrenches, grinders, and all hand tools; wrenches, screw drivers, Allen wrenches, and socket wrenches.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, B/P, specs, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. You must have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percents.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. The ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Follow all safety rule and regulations and report all safety issues that are found on forging floor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds. The employee will push and pull heavy billets while performing the job of Forging Technician. The employee must have good hand and eye coordination while running a forging press. The job is hot and requires the employee to ware long sleeves for protection.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is loud.

Theemployee in this job must be knowledgeable about and follow Meritor’s safety policies and procedures. The employee must ensure that they are wearing the proper PPE (personal protective equipment) while running any press in the forging department.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is encouraged to reduce, reuse and recycle wherever possible. Meritor has recycling bins in place to help protect our environment.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
