We are looking for a talented Quality Inspector - Level II to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Components Business Segment in Manning, SC.

Core Responsibilities

The Quality Inspector will review dimensional characteristics as required on pay-out tickets.The Quality Inspector will be responsible for inspecting components to insure they meet quality requirements.The Quality Inspector will be responsible for ensuring ALL defects found on the bench, the pallet or the shipping dock is recorded and the appropriate signatures are obtained.The Quality Inspector will alert the operators of ALL defects found during inspection.The Quality Inspector is required to not only monitor the quality produced by the assembler but is also required to monitor his/her own quality of work. Should a brake be returned from the pallet or the dock by the operator or PIL, the inspector is REQUIRED to write up the defect and all names associated to with that defect including the inspector.The Quality Inspector will be required to adhere to and support all quality, safety, production goals and requirements.The Quality Inspector will support continual improvement within the organization.The Quality Inspector will be required to become competent in customer satisfaction.The Quality Inspector will perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways

Ensures products received or produced meet technical specifications. Works under moderate supervision.Verifies the final quality of products on the production line.Compares the physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment and products to technical specifications to identify defects.Separates products that do not have the desired technical specification, using basic and/or complex measurement techniques and equipment.Documents products that do not meet technical specifications using specified systems.Trains others in the use of measurement equipment, segregation of non-conforming product and documentation.Follows the norms and standards of quality defined by the Company.

To be successful in this role you will need the following

Measurement Science - Analyzes measurement processes throughout the relevant traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty relevant to the appropriate applied measurement science, “Metrology” e.g. Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical and Radiation and Physical.Laboratory Management - Leads technical resources while managing the business aspects of a laboratory using measure to control both the technical and business aspects of the organization and assuring the requirements of the appropriate certifications and/or accreditations are met.Quality Process Management - Applies and manages methods (e.g. SPC, Capability studies, Layered Process Audit, inspection, test) to ensure quality of Cummins products, processes, and services.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.The Quality Inspector will support Meritor commitment to customer by performing their duties to support customer requirements.The Quality Inspector will be responsible for quality.The Quality Inspector has the authority to stop production, if necessary to correct quality problems.The Quality Inspector will demonstrate product knowledge by:Knowing where assemblies are usedKnowing the consequences of producing a poor quality product as it relates to customer satisfaction and the impairment of vehicle safety.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
