Production Engineer 3

Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, L.P. is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our Production Engineer position. This position will be responsible for the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, fabrication and assembly, cost reduction initiatives, processing of engineering changes, and introduction of new products. Also provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, technicians and operations support staff. Capable of high level strategy and development of project plans, execution of capital projects and significant activities requiring a multi-functional team.

Description:Develop Die design specification for new productImplements improvements on the production Die qualityWork with Design Engineers to revise, and sustain HVAC product designs, utilizing knowledge of engineering principles; provide manufacturing technical resource to Design Project teamsUtilizes proven lean manufacturing abilities to identify opportunities for cost reduction, increased quality, work flow improvements, estimating, project analysis, technology development and core manufacturing skill setDevelop and manage project schedules related to existing product launches, design reviews or design modificationsDocument Die designs with appropriate bills of materials, cost analysis, and drawingsEstablishes continuous improvement goals and executes action plansAble to supervise others and provide mentoring to junior engineers, technicians and support staffImprove production efficiency from analysis of actual place-object-fact, and feedback to spec and process.

Nature & Scope:Works within knowledge. Will work with the Fabrication and Production departments & Design Engineering team to sustain residential and/or commercial HVAC-related products.

Knowledge & Skills:Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of manufacturing engineering theory, processes, and practiceSkilled in at least two or more of the following areas - Molding, Finishing, Tooling, Fabrication / Stamping of aluminum and steel, Assembly processes and or Product Engineering support in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of specifications and standards used in the HVAC industry – strongly preferredLean manufacturing concepts - Kaizan, value stream mapping, Kanban, demand flow technology; line balancing & time studiesExpert on core manufacturing documentation – PFMEAs, PCPs, PFDs, DFA/DFM, and all aspects of manufacturing in a high volume environment and engineering change processesSoftware skills including MS Office Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, MapicsEffective analytical and problem-solving skills and compliance oriented and attention to detailEffective project management skillsEffective verbal and written communication skills to deliver the message to any level of the organization – with clarity and preciseness required at each levelEffective interpersonal & collaboration skills and ability to work with teams

Experience:8+ years in a production/manufacturing engineer role6+ years of product design in assembly HVAC environment preferred, or automotive, appliance industry

Education:Bachelor’s Degree - Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Systems EngineeringSix Sigma certification preferred
