Interim Fund Controller (Part-Time)
We are currently seeking candidates for an Interim Fund Controller opportunity with a highly successful Investment Management firm located in New York, NY. The Interim Controller will manage all aspects of fund accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have 8-10+ years of investment accounting/fund accounting experience in Private Equity and/or Venture Capital.
This is a part-time opportunity, paying between $70-$80/hour within a 20-hour work-week.
Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of fund accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Review and analyze tax statements for accuracy and compliance with regulations. Review and analyze tax statements for portfolio companies. Assist in creating and maintaining a comprehensive 2024 investment log, tracking key details of each investment. Prepare weekly valuation and activity logs, monitoring portfolio performance and market trends. Generate bi-weekly investment pace reports, providing insights into investment velocity and alignment with strategic goals. Backfill and maintain a complete and accurate 2023 investment log for historical reference. Collaborate with external service providers, reviewing and verifying the accuracy of their accounting work. Document and maintain clear records of quarterly thresholds on Limited Partner Agreement (LPA) limitations. Provide support during management company close processes and/or budget to actual work analysis. Update and maintain manual Excel files with critical portfolio company data, including ownership percentages and valuations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 8+ years of investment accounting experience at Venture Capital or Private Equity firm. Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant tax regulations. Strong systems skills (Excel and ERP systems) Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address discrepancies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
