Job Duties

Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Laundry Worker to provide adequate, clean, and sanitary linen for patients and staff; enter inventories on delivery tickets and calculate deliveries; prepare laundry carts for deliveries, recording delivery weights and item count for deliveries; sort and build loads; keep correct notes as to ownership and maintain poundage records; and operate the correct washer for the type of load, selecting the correct wash cycle.
This position will also dry laundry to the proper dryness and ironing categories; dry laundry to the proper dryness taking care not to damage the fabric; operate the ironer as trained using the proper heat setting; assure that items are properly ironed, folded, and stacked; hand fold items as needed making sure to fold them as trained; and stack items in the proper amount, tie, and place on shelfs.

Minimum Qualifications
ability to learn how to perform simple functions using a computer such as but not limited to email and on-line training ability to learn washing, separating, drying, finishing, folding, distribution of laundry, and operation of laundry equipment ability to read, write, and perform simple math calculations ability to lift heavy objects and ability to perform prolonged standing and walking ability to take laundry inventory on units
Additional Considerations
high school graduate or equivalent entry level laundry processing and general computer use general knowledge in the processing of hospital laundry including equipment operation bilingual veteran
