Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York provides programs and services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses. Located in Red Hook, NY (12571), this position is responsible for the supervision and support of an assigned student in the education program. They will supervise one student across the entire school day in all instructional and leisure activities while the student is present in the school building. They will provide assistance for their assigned student in completing activities of daily living, including toileting, menstrual care (for females), and other self care activities if appropriate for that student. The 1:1 Aide will facilitate student's participation in small group or individual learning activities. They will provide prompting for completion of new skills and practice on maintained or generalized skills. They will also implement behavior support plans as appropriate for their assigned student.

Location: Main campus, Red Hook school

Salary: $16.50+ per hour; increases depending on education and experience.

Qualifications

To qualify, we require our One to One Aides to

Have a HS diploma. One year experience with special needs individuals is preferred. Be flexible, patient, energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor. Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adults with special needs.

Physical Requirements: Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants or other chemical or controlled substances. Significant, prolonged, and frequent amounts of walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and lifting of 50 or more. Using standard crisis intervention procedures, must be able to singlehandedly effect the initial restraint of children and adolescents weighing between 75 and 150 lbs. Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens.
