Creative Arts Therapist
📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
A reputable out-patient facility in the heart of Brooklyn is looking to immediately hire a Part-time or Full-time Licensed Creative Arts/Recreational Therapist with a minimum of 1 year experience in providing individual and group creative arts therapy and in substance use or mental health field. Pay starts with $26 hourly plus a hefty benefits package that includes PTO and full health insurance. Responsibilities and Duties:Instruct, lead, mentor, and motivate clients in a group setting.Develop and implement creative therapy programs focused on topics like:Poetry & Creative WritingNarrative TherapyScrapbookingArt TherapyMeditationDance & MovementMusic TherapyAnd other expressive outletsFacilitate a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their creativity and build self-esteem.Document client progress and collaborate with the treatment team.
Education and Licensure Requirements:Master's Degree Preferred: In Psychology, Mental Health Counseling (MHC), or Social Work (MSW) with a focus on substance use treatment (CASAC preferred).
OR Bachelor's Degree Required: In a relevant field with a Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) credential.
License/Certification: LCAT (Licensed Creative Arts Therapist) or Recreational Therapy certification required.
Qualifications1-2 years’ experience providing individual and group creative arts therapy,Experience in substance use/ mental health field, andWorkshop implementation experience preferred.
