Job Description

This position is part of the Discover Global Products Strategy team that focuses on strategic projects, stakeholder alignment with leaders, strategic communication planning, and continuous improvement deployments.

Acts as an internal business strategy consultant identifying patterns or themes and driving business actions based on fact-based recommendations. Collaboratively identifies hypotheses and key business questions, and delivers strategic analysis and insights required for strategy creation and execution.

Supports various stages of strategy development, including but not limited to evaluating and performing analysis for various strategy, business optimization, and business growth initiatives. Conducts components of analysis, including research on the market landscape, financial analysis, and due diligence. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to support aspects of strategy development, business optimization, and business growth initiatives. Fosters a culture of effective risk management, accountability, and demonstration of risk awareness across the organization. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

Responsibilities

Leverages industry insights, competitive analysis, and voice of customer to strengthen product roadmaps for the Global Products organization and help drive capabilities investment strategy decisions. Assesses the performance of and shapes the structure and direction of new and existing product lines. Identify sources, monitor, analyze, and interpret key product performance metrics including financials, network volumes, other key statistics, and internal/external customer feedback trends, then develop and communicate findings, suggests and recommends performance improvements to support data driven business decisions. Analyzes data to provide recommendations on the target state of the Payments business unit looking ahead 3 or more years. This includes analysis of strategic capability gaps, threats, opportunities, and competitors. Research and investigate industry trends and opportunities in support of Discover’s strategy by utilizing methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Works on problems and projects of diverse scope related to developing business strategies and objectives. Conducts analysis on business opportunities and business projects. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to support processes related to strategy development and required due diligence. Supports development of presentation materials regarding opportunities, analysis, and or transactions and recommendations to leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management, or related field 4+ years of experience in M&A, investment banking, corporate development, transaction advisory, consulting, or relatedIn lieu of a degree, 6+ years of experience in M&A, investment banking, corporate development, transaction advisory, consulting, or related

Compensation

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $75,500.00 to $127,900.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
