About Doctors of the World USA Doctors of the World (DotW) is the US chapter of Mรฉdecins du Monde (MdM) International Network, a global health and humanitarian organization dedicated to providing emergency and long-term medical care to vulnerable populations worldwide. We operate under a set of core values that prioritize access to healthcare as a fundamental human right, including the right to have access to safe, legal abortion. DotW works across five main program pillars: sexual and reproductive health; migrants and refugee health; mental health; harm reduction; and disaster response. DotW launched a U.S.-based program in 2023 at the southern US border with Mexico, in El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, in partnership with a major academic partner and local shelters and service providers. The Border Health Program (BHP) is a migrant and refugee transitional care program focused on delivering services for migrants and refugees throughout the borderplex. In addition to leveraging the considerable experience of the MdM International Network working with these populations throughout the world, the program has a particular focus on data collection which will form the basis of advocacy efforts aimed at improving health outcomes for migrants and refugees, and scholarship on migrant and refugee health. About the Position DotW USA seeks a motivated, entrepreneurial, and creative individual to provide fundraising and donor communications support within a small, high-functioning team. The main focus of the position is to support the fundraising priorities of the organization including proposal and reporting support and administration; prospect research; maintenance of a small donor database (Salesforce) and all donor records; the timely and accurate delivery of services to donors including gift acknowledgment, renewals, and the development and dissemination of regular donor communications; maintenance of written and financial data content on the relevant portion of our website. The Development Assistant reports directly to the Director of Development, while collaborating closely and effectively with other development department and grants and compliance department colleagues. This is a career growth opportunity to help shape a small but growing international organization, by playing a key role in supporting organization fundraising efforts as well as performing general development support functions essential to Doctors of the World's success and growth. Tasks include: Input and ensure accuracy of gift entry and donor records in Salesforce;Perform database maintenance functions to keep data and gift records clean and up to date;Manage relationship with Salesforce support; participate in periodic Salesforce training;Write and produce donor and gift reports;Steward the expansion of individual contributions to DotW; support outside direct marketing and communications consultants;Maintain website donate page and other relevant pages, ensuring that content and related financial information is up to date;Monitor and maintain Stripe/Give Lively revenue channels, troubleshooting any technical issues;Generate and mail/email donor acknowledgment letters and tax receipts in a timely manner;Generate regular donor stewardship communications;Maintain online and physical donor files;Provide logistical and other support for small cultivation events.Provide proposal and grant management support to the Development Director, and US Grants Manager and other Development Staff;Support development staff in tracking grant reporting and other donor requirements, scheduling meeting preparation, record keeping, and follow-up;Maintain accurate and up to date development files in SharePoint (current and historical);Assist in the creation, dissemination and tracking of regular donor communications, including the development of collateral materials (e.g., one-pagers, brochures, monthly newsletters);Assist in the maintenance and updating of the prospect research database; Other administrative duties as assigned/needed, including note-taking in various internal and external meetings. The ideal candidate should have the following experience and qualifications: A minimum of 2-3 years experience working in a social justice, health or community based organization; significant development experience; experience in building or expanding an individual giving program is highly desirable;Solid experience working with Salesforce or similar CRM database is required;Proficiency working with Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Microsoft 365 Suite and other relevant project management software is required.Excellent writing skills, and strong interpersonal and organizational communication skills;Demonstrable ability to work effectively and efficiently in a small team environment;Commitment to, and passion for the vision, mission, values and work of DotW;Experience as an effective communicator who is articulate and persuasive in both the spoken and written word; must be adept at crafting materials and making presentations to a variety of audiences. This position is hybrid, based in the New York City office. Salary is generally in the range of $65k-$75k, negotiable at the higher end dependent only on experience, skills and demonstrable record of achievement.
