📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Our Government client in Brooklyn, NY is looking for a Senior GIS Engineer for an onsite role. This is 12+months and 35 hour week.
GIS EngineerManage and oversee the execution and delivery of geospatial data, services and applications to City agencies and the public.Develop, review, and finalize project solicitations and work plans.Development of a sustainable workflow for authoring and updating map tiles.Work closely with the GIS Database Administrator to establish group geospatial data catalog. Establish project objectives and acceptance criteria.Review and verification of project deliverables.Perform the application of Geospatial principles (scale, projections, coordinate systems, topology, spatial analysis, etc.).Utilize cartography and data visualization techniques and practices.Perform geospatial data gathering using ESRI ArcGIS and web mapping technologies.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered
Experience in Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and call handling systems integration is a plus. DesiredKnowledge of SDI concepts and experience in the implementation of spatial data infrastructure. MandatoryExperience in large scale GIS integration is a plus. DesiredExperience in methods and best practices in GIS systems development and integration. MandatorySkills in cartography and data visualization to effectively communicate spatial information. MandatoryExperience in Public Safety location and mapping technologies DesiredMin 8 yrs experience GIS and SDI labor categories MandatoryFamiliarity with database management systems, especially those commonly used in GIS, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle Spatial.
