Role DescriptionThis is a full-time on-site role as a Data Center Technician with Fiber Optics Cabling Experience located in Dallas, TX. The work is 24/7 and night shift is available. As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting data center equipment. You will also be responsible for managing fiber optics cabling and ensuring proper connectivity and performance. This role requires strong technical skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:Fiber Optics Installation: Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cabling infrastructure according to industry standards and best practices.Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on existing fiber optic systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve fiber optic connectivity issues, signal degradation, and other related problems in a timely manner.Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all fiber optic installations, configurations, and maintenance activities.Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including network engineers, systems administrators, and facilities staff to coordinate cabling projects and support data center operations.Compliance: Adhere to relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies during all cabling installations and maintenance activities.Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in fiber optics cabling, and suggest improvements to enhance data center infrastructure efficiency and performance.
Qualifications:Experience: Minimum of X years of experience working as a data center technician with a focus on fiber optics cabling.Technical Skills: Proficiency in fiber optic cable splicing, termination, and testing techniques. Familiarity with fiber optic connectors, patch panels, and related hardware.Networking Knowledge: Understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies (e.g., Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs) as they relate to data center environments.Certifications: Preferred certifications include FOA (Fiber Optic Association) certification, BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International) certification, or equivalent.Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical specifications and diagrams accurately.Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues independently.Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members and communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
