Position Description

Accountabilities

Responsible for the Six Sigma program at OPW FC, the Engineering Lab, Experimental Machine Shop, SLA Rapid Prototyping Facility, Outside Test facility, Elastomer Evaluation Facility, and all personnel assigned to these areas. This position affects the overall design quality, reliability, adherence to Agency Certification requirements and the Time to Market of OPW’s new and existing products. Conducts all requested testing and data analyzation, specifies needed supplies and components, participates on various design teams and design reviews. Suggests and implements recommendations and procedures to assure the efficient and safe operation of the Eng. Lab and Experimental Machine Shop. Also provides technical support to Operations and Quality with, procedures, and product reliability/ quality audits.

Responsibilities

The Six Sigma Program at OPW-FC. This includes project selection, Blackbelt and Greenbelt selection, Six Sigma training, project mentoring and final signoff for the completion of the projects.Assist with new product designs by participating in Engineering Design Reviews and participate as a Design Team Member as required.Function as Technical Resource to Engineering, Operations and Quality.Coordinate the use of the Lab and Experimental Machine Shop, its technical machinery, personnel and equipment and its services in a safe and orderly manner.Research, specify, recommend, design, justify and either construct or purchase necessary machinery and test equipment.Assure the timely completion of all Engineering test / prototyping projects and ensure reports are generated as necessary.Manage Setup, programming and operation of computer controlled data acquisition and LABVIEW controlled test equipment.Assure the effective operation and programming of departments CAD/CAM system and CNC equipment.Maintain a high level of knowledge of OPW’s product line and any company or certification agency testing required.Other Activities as required.
