Facilities Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:Reporting to the Facilities Engineering Manager, the Facilities Engineer plans, builds, optimizes and troubleshoots the oil, water, and CO2 infrastructure of the Company. This function will be based primarily in Elk’s AU/MCU Field Office in the Four Corners Area of the Paradox Basin, with occasional time in the Cortez office.

KEY ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCES:Experience with optimizing legacy infrastructure with a focus on economically and safely extending useful life.Experience identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues that negatively impact production, or contribute to inefficient LOE expenditures. Experience supervising field work, construction contractors, and providing direction and guidance to maintenance and operations technicians.Experience with design, sizing/specification, and operations of infrastructure supporting upstream oil and gas production operations including piping systems and components, separators, tanks, vapor recovery systems, compressors, pumps, and flares.Experience with infrastructure supporting CO2 WAG and waterflooding operations, including recycle gas compression, dehydration, condensate extraction and water injection.Scoping and design for expansion of existing infrastructure in support of ongoing and future capital development projects.Develop potential alternatives to increase operating efficiencies and simplify existing infrastructure.Use of effective project management skills resulting in timely and cost-effective project delivery. Focus on increasing operational efficiency via use of SCADA and other technologies. Knowledge of applicable codes, guidelines and recommended practices such as ASME, NACE, API, OSHA/PSM, EPA, BLM, DOT/PHMSA and other organizations/agencies. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:· Manage the engineering and construction for small facilities projects ($10k - $5M) with minimal oversite. · Develop project work scopes, project budgets, engineering design packages, and bid packages.· Manage roustabout crews and construction contractors in the execution of facilities projects.· Participate with management and operations personnel to establish facilities development priorities and goals, develop budgets and establish cost controls. Plan and direct activities to meet or exceed such goals while maintaining effective budgetary discipline. · Support operations in the development and implementation of operating methods, procedures, design, installation and modifications of machinery, equipment and facilities in order to reduce or eliminate operating problems and improve the quantity and reliability of production; ensure property, facilities, and equipment remain in good repair and comply with applicable rules and regulations.· Negotiate contracts with equipment and materials suppliers; recommend capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment that is associated with overall project developmental goals or which would increase efficiency of operations; approve requisitions for equipment, materials, and supplies.· Produce and/or review and analyze reports regarding project progress and timing, expenditures, and so forth. As part of this activity, he/she will report to management on such results along with causes of any variances, facilities developmental constraints, and other red flag items or coordination opportunities. Such reports will include recommended solutions and timelines and cost estimates for implementation thereof.· Assist as directed with management personnel in formulating administrative and operational policies and procedures within the scope of the Company's operations and production activities.· Develop and maintain close working relationships with Operations personnel to develop solutions to operational problems and to improve efficiency, reliability, regulatory compliance, and safety of Elk’s production facilities.· Act as company representative before governmental commissions and regulatory agencies with regard to facilities development and related activities.· Establish rollout procedures and implementation of EH&S policies & guidelines to company and contract personnel involved with capital projects.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Petroleum or other pertinent engineering discipline)Minimum 8 years in oil and gas industry Facilities Engineering roles WORKING CONDITIONS:Indoor/outdoor environment; exposed to hazards associated with dust, fumes, high pressures, high temperatures, heavy equipment and confined spaces; regularly subjected to external environmental conditions such as cold, heat, rain, dust, snow or fumes from equipment or chemicals. Field working conditions include natural gas, H2S/CO2 gases and oil field liquids in outdoor conditions. Ability to hear consistently over loud background noises. May be required to run, jump, reach, squat, bend and climb. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Driving required.

Work beyond regular schedule may be required. On-call scheduling for weekends and evenings may be required. Responding to callouts required.
