Job Summary:Reporting to the Manager of Patient Accounts and Executive Director of Revenue Cycle, the Denials Coordinator is primarily responsible for executing the denials process for denied claims at Emerson Hospital. The coordinator also works with third-party payers to respond to inquiries, complaints, and other correspondences.

Qualifications:Education:Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in healthcare/business management, or a combination of relevant education and experienceExperience:Minimum two years’ experience in hospital billing, collection, payment processing, or denials.Licensure and/or Certification:N/ASkills: Hospital billing and reimbursementMedicare and Commercial payor denials and appealsAn understanding of third-party contractsExcellent critical thinking and analytical skillsAbility to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary teamStrong verbal and written communication skillsAble to work independently.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenEstablish effective relationships with a wide variety of departments and/or providersExcellent team member; receives and shares information.Good problem solver with strong critical thinking ability.Remains organized despite frequent interruptions.Computer skills to include learning software systems as needed.Good time management skills to prioritize multiple tasks such as writing reports and correspondence and presentation of information.Responds to written or verbal assignments accurately and within established timeframes.
