This position will report to the Director of Revenue Recognition, with thorough understanding of order to cash process, technical understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition and direct experience with revenue accounting transactions. This position provides billing and revenue accounting support to the organization.
Responsibilities
Analyze and interpret complex customer contracts to determine appropriate billing and revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 and company revenue recognition policies.Develop close working relationships with the project managers; participate in project update meetings, educate and provide financial guidance as necessary. Record transactions for billing activities, adjustments and journal entries related to revenue recognition.Monitor past due accounts receivable and work with project managers to resolve project issues that may be holding up payments, contacting customers as necessary.Prepare account reconciliations for revenue, deferred revenue, and accounts receivable related accounts.Identify opportunities for process improvements related to projects, billing, revenue recognition and related accounting policies.Assist with the implementation of system modules within NetSuite related to revenue management.Assist in preparation of financial data and support for tax packages, audits, budgets, and periodic forecasts.Assist in the preparation of financial statements and related footnotes.Assist with the implementation of SOX and ensure compliance.Assist with special projects and activities as requested.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Proficient in MS Office products.NetSuite ERP desirable or similar ERP experience.Thorough understanding of the order to cash process.Technical understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition.Ability to analyze information, formulate decisions / recommendations and bring closure to issues.Strong GAAP knowledge and importance to public reporting.Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent required.Minimum of 5 years' experience.5+ years of experience in corporate accounting function of public company preferred.
Travel
Overnight/North America: Less than 10%
Working Conditions
Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
