Immediate Crew Chief Openings – Fort Irwin NTC, California
Espinoza Consulting Services. has immediate openings for crew chiefs for large-scale survey at Fort Irwin, San Bernardino County, California Desert. Positions are hourly/temporary, but long-term regional employment is possible at the conclusion of the current field effort. All positions will be paid according to current Service Contract Act wage determinations for the work location ($32 per hour or higher depending upon experience). Exceptionally qualified individuals will be considered for permanent positions, with remote out-of-field work available. Healthcare insurance option, all federal holidays, and educational stipends are standard for all full-time ECS employees. Per diem and accommodations are provided.
Minimum Requirements:Preferred qualifications include
An advanced degree in anthropology or archaeology and three years field/write-up experience in the southwest and/or Mojave Desert. A BA and additional experience may substitute for an MA.Able to perform and direct the duties of technician (walk up to 10 miles a day; lift up to 40 lbs.; identify historic and prehistoric artifacts; conduct archaeological survey and testing; complete sketch maps of features and sites; complete field forms accurately and concisely; use a GPS unit; and photograph resources). Be able to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures).Good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.Experience with ArcGIS Pro is desirable.Must have a clean driver’s license. Employment is also subject to drug and alcohol testing.
Please note that work will involve diverse prehistoric and historic material culture. Resources will span from prehistoric Mojave Desert/Great Basin traditions through the mid-20th century, including homesteading, mining and military.
