What you’ll do

Be responsible for the mechanical hardware design of body electronics for all new products. You will cover from clean sheet of paper through virtual development, testing/sign-off and manufacturing launch for Scout all-electric pick-up and rugged SUVs. Work with Cariad, key VW Group module owners, and suppliers to release all appropriate body control components. Be part of a diverse team fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, promoting continuous learning and professional development among team members. Develop prototypes for virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing. Ensure designs conform to safety standards and U.S. government regulations. Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly. Contribute to the design of production facilities for body systems of Scout trucks & SUVs. Manage supplier resources efficiently to deliver components and systems that meet cost, timing, and quality targets.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical or combined electrical/mechanical engineering. 1-2+ years mechanical design experience in automotive electronics a must. 5+ years mechanical or electromechanical engineering experience is a plus. A desire to work and gain engineering experience in body electrical and mechanical areas, covering all phases of product development (design, test, and launch). Prior work history as an intern or co-op or entry level engineer with strong technical skills, employing a six-sigma approach to engineering design and problem-solving. Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field. Ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $100,000-$115,000
