Director of Finance / Controller

One of our client’s, a global manufacturing company, is looking for an experienced Director of Finance / Controller to join their U.S. team.

Reporting to the General Manager and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the Director of Finance will be responsible for the development of our financial management strategy and contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic goals as well asreporting the financial results + analysis to the group’s HQ; work closely with the corporate controller and Group’s CFO.

In addition to the strategic components, the Director will oversee the development and implementation of more sophisticated policies and procedures both in the finance and general operational realms. The Director will be expected to monitor the financial health of the organization, including keeping careful tabs on its regular transactions, cash flow and any business deals that affect the bottom line.

This is a “hands-on” position, requiring the successful candidate to be well-versed in Finance Management, but also willing and able to handle transactions, prepare financial statements andpresentations, etc. This is an outstanding opportunity for a finance executive with operational experience and a proven track record of creative problem-solving and change management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESStrategy, Vision and LeadershipAdvise GM and other key members of senior management on financial planning budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters.Contribute to the development of our company’s strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization.Supply a monthly reporting package of all financial data and analysis to the corporate controller and CFO.Overall manage and be responsible for the accounting department duties.Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the GM informed of all critical issues.Represent the organization externally, as necessary, particularly in banking and other finance negotiations.Conduct regular audits of expenditures, assets and liabilities, ensuring the recorded figures are verifiable and accurate.Review, revise, implement and/or modify financial checks and balances with a high degree of involvement and meticulous attention to detailDevelop disciplines to refine inventory management and optimize cash management.Maintain systems for effective billing and collection.Responsible for costing system and implementation.Preparing company local and federal tax statements.Work with other departments to maximize Cash Management.

General Operations:Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures.Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budget process.Ensure that our company is adhering to the strategic plan, delivering status reports to the board.Provide analytical support to the internal management team including the development of internal management reporting capabilitiesDrive reporting to give Management forward-looking performance guidance

QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS Minimum 8 years of experience in a senior management role ideally with both external audit and in-house financial management experience gained in a high-growth organizationMUST: Operational/Manufacturing experience, understands inventory capitalization, burden rate compilation, budgeting etc. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).Manufacturing cost accounting experience is highly preferredProven track record of success in facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organizationExcellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict-resolution skillsStrong mentoring, and coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertiseAdvanced knowledge of financial management software and systemsAbility to meet deadlines under time constraintsStrong listening skills and attention to detailManage and evaluate the budgeting and forecasting process and recommend action-oriented initiatives to attain budgeted/forecast targetsExperience working with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, boards, and community leaders including military personnelSuperior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peersSelf-reliant, good problem solver, results-orientedExperience in Government contracts with military applications is an advantageEnergetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administration initiativesDefense Industry Experience is an advantage

EDUCATION: A Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business with strong accounting experienceCPA is preferred
