Founded in 2000 with locations in Warrenton and Winchester, VA, ESI is a valued strategic partner with longstanding relationships among key general contractors throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region.

ESI is experiencing significant growth and is looking to add a Senior Project Accountant to our team.

Location

This will be a hybrid role, with an onsite/remote schedule yet to be determined – some onsite work will be required at our large project site in Dulles, VA.

The Role:We are seeking a highly skilled Permanent Construction Project Accountant to join our dynamic team! The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project, finance, and/or cost accounting. As a Construction Project Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of our construction projects and ensuring that all financial records are accurate and up to date. Strong knowledge of project accounting, job costing, forecasting, AIA, and WIP.Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Oversee project-related accounting, including verification and classification of project-related costs.Perform job costing, WIP, AIA, change order tracking, and forecasting for all assigned projects.Analyze project profitability, cash flow forecasting, revenue, margins, bill rates, and utilization.Prepare and submit project budget and cost reports.Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.Collaborate with project teams to support overall project execution and performance goals.Review and process subcontractor and vendor invoices and determine if costs should be posted to project cost or overhead.Assist with internal and external auditing procedures.Ensure compliance with financial guidelines, company policies, and relevant legal regulations.Facilitate communication between project management team and finance/accounting department.Maintain contract documentation and files on One Drive.

Knowledge, Experience, and Special Skills Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.A minimum of 5 years' experience in construction project accounting.Strong knowledge of project accounting, job costing, forecasting, AIA, and WIP.Proficient in MS Office suite, particularly strong capabilities in MS Excel.
