The Accelerator Directorate (AD) is seeking an experienced Power Supply Maintenance Group Leader to join the Fermilab team. AD’s Power Electronics Systems Department designs, installs, operates, maintains, and repairs DC and pulsed power systems and equipment used to energize particle accelerator and beam-line magnets and loads.

These power systems generate output voltages as high as 100 kV pulsed or over 1kV DC and output currents as high as 300 kA pulsed or over 10 kA DC as well as precision regulation. We design, build, and maintain high power systems with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists to meet a variety of challenging requirements for future experiments at our world class accelerator laboratory.

You will

Work onsite at our Batavia, Illinois location. Lead maintenance electronic group and support operations, providing direction, mentorship, and accountability for 5 to 7 members of the group while utilizing fundamental knowledge of electronic, electrical engineering and physics. Set up effective goals and benchmarks for self and team improvement.Maintain and improve moderate to complex components, processes, and systems with a proficiency in the use of some of the following: modern analytical tools, software and hardware development, integration and testing, design of microelectronic circuitry, and the physics principles used in modern scientific, chemical, and mechanical and/or engineering applications.Provide power supply system’s operational and maintenance support for all particle accelerators at the laboratory.Develop timely strategies for the purchasing of electrical/electronic power supply components used in the accelerator machines.Monitor tests and examine operations of equipment to isolate and define problems and proper functioning of equipment and to insure efficient functioning and conformance with Safety specifications and regulations.Evaluate findings and develop plans and improvements to meet project or operational goals that bring a project to operating status or facilitates an operation that routinely requires understanding and application of the above designs.Abide by and be responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

We are looking for a Candidate with

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Applied Physics, or related field with at least 5 years’ experience.Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated supervisory experience.Knowledge and experience in electronics or power electronics.Demonstrated self-initiative and self-learning.
