📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Description Fred Smith Company is a leading heavy civil construction company in North Carolina and is currently searching for a Senior Estimator to be a part of our talented team. The Senior Estimator will report to the Chief Operating Officer. This position is responsible for delivering competitive cost estimates on new bids and reviewing the progress of existing bids to ensure their completion. The successful Sr. Estimator candidate will: Have broad experience and a thorough understanding of heavy civil construction estimatingWill be a self-starterWill be capable of developing major estimates with little supervisionWill be able to meet critical deadlines and lead/mentor others in a positive team environmentDuties and Responsibilities:Conduct initial analysis of drawings and specifications to ensure required documentation is present and determine scope of workDevelop full-scope estimates based on Bid-Build, Design-Build or CM/GC construction documentsCritically analyze bid documents and understand risk and opportunities and articulate those to managementOrganize the bid team, providing leadership and direction with regards to means and methods, schedule and strategyProvide detailed quantity take off of specific trades when requiredRequirements:Minimum of 10 to 15 years of prior civil estimating experienceProficiency in Microsoft OfficeProficiency with HCSS HeavyBid estimating software or equivalent program for Civil EstimatingProficiency with Agtek takeoff software preferredPrevious experience working in the field is a strong plusBachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field preferred Fred Smith Company is dedicated to the achievement of equality of opportunity for all its employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, marital status, age, national origin, disability, veteran status or any other protected group status under federal, state or local law.
