What To Expect

As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. Located in our Elizabethtown office, you will be an Engineering/Continuous Improvement Manager.

This position is responsible for plant engineering responsibilities as well as Continuous Improvement efforts. The manager will use Lean and Six Sigma tools to develop, lead and implement projects which improve operational efficiency and deliver savings which improve our profitability, market position, and competitiveness. Utilizing problem solving skills the manager will support uptime improvements of key manufacturing equipment while driving output improvements.

Key Responsibilities (to Name a Few)

Driving Continuous Improvement activities including (but not limited to) defect reduction, elimination of customer complaints, Problem Solving, Error Proofing and Value Stream improvement in a lean manufacturing environment.Improve uptime and overall output through project identification/implementation.Creates a strategic plan and road map to meet facility goals to improve inventory, productivity, scrap/defect etc.Supports implementation of regional and local Lean/Six Sigma strategies and Gates Production System (GPS).Works within the infrastructure of Gates Lean and Six Sigma practitioners by training and coaching site associates in Lean Six Sigma methodology.Assist in the design of work standards, quality control charts and systems, and other elements of superior manufacturing practice to aid plant improvement.Assist in the design of work standards, quality control charts and systems and other elements of operational excellence to aid plan improvement.Provide technical direction to engineers and plant management.Custom equipment design, equipment build, debugs and start-ups.Specification and acquisition of vendor purchased equipment/services through Capitol Expenditure process.Generating Key Process Indicator charts for monthly reporting.

About You

Minimum of 8 years of management experience in manufacturing.Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferredMaster Black Belt or Lean Master highly desired.Demonstrated ability to lead teams and implement projects through continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean or Six Sigma.Proven successes in reducing Manufacturing costs.Significant experience in implementing Lean systems at the plant level (e.g..Quick Change Over, Total Productive Maintenance, 5S, Kaizen events, level scheduling, KanBan systems, and Value Stream Mapping). Experience as a Six Sigma and Lean trainer.Ability to interact with various levels of the organization.Ability to build credibility and trust within the organization.Demonstrate an understanding of the broader organization, and how this role fits into the strategic plan and overall direction of Gates.Create alignment so employees understand the strategy and how their contribution further organizational success.Reinforce the business plan and strategy by building a disciplined, consistent approach with measurements of success for direct reports.Orchestrate and prioritize multiple activities at once to accomplish Company goals.Take the initiative to look for and take advantage of opportunities and take independent actions and calculated risks.Work with internal and external stakeholders in a variety of formal presentation settingsWrite reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Demonstrate organization skills.Demonstrate ability to drive and report metrics. Master Black Belt or Lean Master highly desired.Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
