Marketing Communications Internship

Marketing Communication Internship | GPG is looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic about marketing communications at a nonprofit. This individual can work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with others as this is a creative position that requires ongoing communication with the development team. Ideal interns have a self-starting and open-minded attitude and can work under tight deadlines. Ideal candidates will also have demonstrated professional or classroom experience working in both traditional (e.g., print ads, direct mail) and digital (e.g., email, social media, website) marketing. The Marketing Communication intern will assist the GPG Marketing and Development team in a variety of creative initiatives including:

Graphic Design: Duties include, but are not limited to developing graphics, videos, and photographs for digital marketing channels, as well as print collateral materials (e.g., brochures, flyers, etc...). Knowledge of graphic design software like Canva or Adobe InDesign, Photoshop preferred. GPG has a free premium Canva account that can be used as Adobe Photoshop.

Social media: Duties include, but are not limited to developing social media posts (copy and images/videos) for Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Knowledge of scheduling software(s) and ability to update a master social media calendar.

Copywriting: Duties include, but are not limited to writing and developing copy for digital marketing channels, as well as print materials like ads and press releases.

Events: Duties include, but are not limited to assisting with event-related project needs as required by the Development Director. This could include helping with on-site logistics, volunteer recruitment, social media, or other preparations. Interest in providing administrative support for fundraising events critical to raising needed funds to continue saving homeless animals.

Qualifications | Experience with special events email marketing, social media content creation and knowledge of platforms, specifically Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok trends is preferred. An understanding of social analytics, paid social advertising, and video editing, as well as website management, preferably Wordpress is a plus. Adhering to branding guidelines, having excellent grammar skills and handling multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision is a must.

About Internship Program | GPG offers unpaid internships for students currently enrolled in a two- or four-year program, as well as individuals who have recently graduated with an associate or bachelor’s degree. Interns should share GPG’s passion for providing judgment-free, equitable access to pet resources and removing barriers to pet ownership. All applicants must attend a new volunteer orientation and conduct themselves in a professional manner consistent with the company handbook. GPG strives to create an environment for interns that fosters ethics, learning, and mentorship while developing a deeper understanding and practice of community service. Interns will be provided the opportunity to learn about other areas of animal welfare through job shadowing or informational meetings with other departments.
