Production Technician

GelSight is building a platform to digitize touch, the next critical mode of machine intelligence. We have pioneered technology enabling users to finally characterize touch in a meaningful way. Our company has recently received recognition for its innovation in tactile intelligence from Fast Company’s Next Big Things in Tech, BostInno- Innovation On Fire, and the Massachusetts Innovation Network Eddies Awards.” GelSight continues to hit new milestones with the recent launch our GelSight Max putting a “lab in the palm of your hand”. In support of this growth, we are looking to add a sales engineer to our team as we grow our revenue and penetrate new accounts.

GelSight seeks a Production Technician with experience in small scale manufacturing and interest in learning new processes and techniques which require a high level of skill and attention to detail. The primary focus will be to perform tasks associated with gel production. The ideal candidate is quality-driven, attentive, and eager to learn and master processes and materials. Critical to the role are the ability to follow both verbal and written instructions, strong communication, teamwork, a continuous improvement mindset, and delivering results daily. This position requires on-site presence working in a laboratory/production setting which involves regular handling of various chemicals. Typically, a 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday, is required though occasional overtime may be necessary to support surges in demand.

Responsibilities

The Production Technician will perform tasks to assist team members in production and lab work. As experience in the roles grows and under appropriate supervision, responsibilities will include:

Completing manufacturing processes to ensure timely completion of gel productionPreparing materials/chemicals, areas, tooling, and equipment for production and engineering needsMaintaining inventory levels of various consumables productsStoring, retrieving, weighing, mixing, and coating chemicalsRecording and entering information into a databaseAssembling/disassembling, cleaning, and maintaining equipmentPerforming Quality Control inspection, testing, release, quarantine, documentation, etc.Preparing, labeling, and packaging gel productsCreating/drafting documented work instructions and training of less experienced team membersAssisting with team leaders to troubleshoot production process & equipment issuesRegular cleaning and organization of production and lab areasAssisting other team members as required

Qualifications

Highschool diploma; Associate degree in a technical field preferredPrior small scale manufacturing experience preferredExperience with work that requires excellent hand dexterityExperience with work requiring a high level of quality and attention to detailAbility to follow both verbal and written instructionsProficiency with Microsoft Office including data entryStrong verbal and written communication skillsUnwavering compliance with safety & quality regulations, including protective gear as required
