As a Communicable Disease Specialist within the North Georgia Health District at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
Location: North Georgia Health District in Dalton, GA.
This position is only open to current North Georgia Health District employees. Only current North Georgia Health District employees are welcome to apply and will be considered for the position.
Job Responsibilities
Under supervision, learns to gather, analyze and monitor data regarding communicable diseases within a health district. Ensures implementation of timely disease intervention strategies to decrease the prevalence of such diseases.
Assists in the implementation of timely disease intervention strategies to decrease the prevalence of communicable diseases. Performs investigations, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Performs surveillance and reporting activities. Prepares documentation of all communicable disease case investigations occurring within the district. Provides case management services, home visits, clinic referrals, patient education/counseling, etc. to clients with various communicable diseases such as sexually transmitted diseases, Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Pertussis, Hepatitis, etc. Assists with health promotion activities such as attending health fairs. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR Four years of outreach experience. Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.
