GEOST seeks a highly capable Materials & Processes Engineer. In addition to general day-to-day requirements of a Material & Processes Engineer, this hire will be responsible for supporting an innovative materials science program at a fast-growing space development company. They will work with creative, multi-disciplinary engineering and science teams to support the development of Space payloads and the Mission Assurance program. Duties and Responsibilities:Identification and selection of materials and surface treatments for space payload componentsExperience in materials & manufacturing process review and selection, development, and qualification.Familiarity with standard methods for testing mechanical properties of aerospace grade materials.Analysis and management of materials outgassing and contamination control considerations.Responsible for program level development activities and Mission Assurance complianceContribution to the analysis and selection of alternative materials such as composites, polymers, ceramics, shape memory alloys, and additive manufacturing materialsProvide recommendations for various issues arising during procurement and manufacturing.Verify subcontractor materials performance and compliance to environmental requirements.Preparation of engineering inputs to proposals and other customer reviews (e.g., PDR, CDR, TRR)Development of material and process control plans and other types of contractual deliverables such as non-standard approval requests contamination/corrosion control plans, etc.Creation and management of Materials Identification and Usage Lists (MIUL)

Required SkillsBachelor of Science degree (strong focus in materials is a plus)Minimum five years’ experience, preferably in a Space or Aerospace design and manufacturing environmentDirect experience with design and applications using space/military/aerospace industry specifications.Experience in process areas such as surface treatments, outgassing, conformal coating, vacuum bake-outs or related processes.Strong demonstrated ability to manage parts & materials documentation and database(s)Demonstrated strong personal workload management and execution.Works independently but enjoys collaborative, supportive development environment.An active U.S. Government Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Clearance. Current SSBI is preferred; please note if applicable. Preferred SkillsDirect experience in adjacent Space Mission Assurance processes and policiesDemonstrated team leadership capabilities to support future team growth.
