Senior Scientist I (Assay Development)

GigaGen, a subsidiary of Grifols, discovers and develops next-generation recombinant antibody therapeutics. Our core technology utilizes a microfluidic droplet system to capture and immortalize diverse immune repertoires, which can then be mined for exceptional monoclonals or enriched and used as high-potency polyclonal therapeutics. Our preclinical pipeline includes several recombinant polyclonal products for infectious diseases and a monoclonal antibody with a unique mechanism for oncology, which is entering the clinic. We are seeking an innovative and motivated Senior Scientist I to develop and implement novel capabilities and assays to functionally characterize our therapeutic antibody drug candidates and to help spearhead projects to continually improve and expand upon our internal capabilities. Primary responsibilities for the role:Researching the literature to devise novel application ideasDesigning and performing in vitro functional assaysAnalyzing data and discussing results at internal and external meetingsBrainstorming and troubleshooting research projects with other scientistsWriting protocols for new capabilities and training other technical staffAssisting in data generation, curation, and writing for publicationsMentoring other staff in proper lab skills, experiment design, and data analysisIdentifying and evaluating external vendors Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Experience with functional in vitro assays such as binding, killing, and neutralizing assaysA strong technical foundation in one or more of the following areas is preferred: microbiology, virology, mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, protein engineering, high-throughput systemsStrong scientific understanding and logical thinkingTechnical writing skills and experience in authoring manuscriptsComfort in designing experiments from scratch and thinking creativelyAbility to work independently and prioritize work across multiple projects Education and Experience:Bachelor with 8+ years of experience, Masters with 5+ years of experience or PhD. with 3+ years of experience In order to be considered for the Senior Scientist I position, all applicants must submit an application, resume and cover letter. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in the company bonus pool.
