Overview Substation Engineering opportunity supporting both utility and/or renewable substation projects throughout the country. Please note that there are P&C & Physical Design openings considering mid-senior level Electrical Engineers with applicable substation design experience.
Responsibilities:The substation engineer is responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of electrical substations. Their main role is to ensure the safe and reliable operation of power distribution systems. Here are some key responsibilities of a substation engineer:Design and Engineering: responsible for the design and engineering of electrical substations. Developing layout plans, schematic diagrams, and equipment specifications for substations.Equipment Selection: They select appropriate equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, switches, and control systems, for substations based on project requirements and industry standards.Project Management: Substation engineers manage substation construction and upgrade projects. They coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project completion.Safety and Compliance: They ensure that substations comply with safety codes, regulations, and industry standards. They assess and mitigate risks associated with substation operations.Technical Support: Substation engineers provide technical support to field personnel and other departments within the organization. They assist in resolving technical issues and implementing improvements.Documentation and Reporting: They maintain accurate documentation of substation designs, equipment specifications, test reports, and maintenance records. QualificationsBachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.Minimum of 5 years of experience in dedicated substation design engineering. Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, substations, and related equipment.Proficiency in substation design software and other engineering tools.Experience in designing and engineering electrical substations.Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to substation design and operation.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Attention to detail and a focus on quality and safety.Knowledge of maintenance and troubleshooting techniques for electrical substations.Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.Experience with testing and commissioning of substation equipment.Understanding of electrical safety practices and procedures.Ability to adapt to changing technology and industry trends.Continuous learning mindset and willingness to stay updated with advancements in the field.
