📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Our client, an extremely successful global hedge fund, is looking for a Data Engineer to be part of a rapidly expanding team responsible for buiding and maintaining data ingestion processes that contribute to investment decisions and facilitate critical operations. The team also owns and develops the platforms that handle and monitor these processes, tools and libraries within them, and complex systems that model the firm's view of the financial world. Duties will include building easily supportable data ingestion pipelines, platforms and systems, analyzing data and developing and standardizing ingestion methodologies. In addition, you will ensure that systems are highly effective, reliable, scalable and flexible as business needs change.
Candidates must be college graduates with broad technical knowledge encompassing as many of the following as possible: Python, C#, Java, Scala, Go, SQL, Pandas, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Snowflake, Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow, Argo, Spark and Hive. Some experience with visualization tools and Apache Kafka would be a plus as would some exposure to financial markets. Last but not leasty you should have a passion for automation and continual improvement.
This is a new position that will be part of a major expansion that is about to take place in the NYC office. The role involves working with almost every team at the firm so there is a tremendous amount of visibility.
