What is Growing Minds Academy?We are Growing Minds Academy, a mixed age early childhood education center started by two moms. Fueled by the belief that education should be a holistic, personalized journey, we embarked on a mission to create an Academy that transcends traditional models of schooling. Our Academy is built on a theme-based curriculum, developed by an experienced & certified K-6 Teacher. We are currently licensed as an at-home daycare in North Stamford (5 minutes north of the Merritt Parkway) and will grow into a center-based facility by the beginning of 2025 offering an in-house daycare for infants to pre-school alongside mixed age classrooms serving children K-6.

The RoleWe are seeking an individual who is eager to embark on a journey of growth alongside our Academy. This position will start as a Lead Teacher for a class of 4 children ages 1 to 3 years old and will provide the opportunity to advance into leadership or continue on a teaching track as The Academy grows. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in child care and demonstrate the creativity required to nurture a positive learning environment. This role presents the opportunity to encompass greater responsibilities and opportunities for leadership in the future.

It is important to know that we are starting as an at-home daycare, but we will be growing into an Academy that serves mixed age classes in a center-based facility by the start of 2025.

Important points:1. The position start date is immediate.2. Compensation is $20-$25 per hour. The job is 40 hours per week; 8 AM- 5 PM with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.3. There are 13 paid holidays and two weeks of scheduled paid vacation (following The Academy's school year).

ResponsibilitiesMaintain a fun and interactive classroom that is clean and organizedSupervise a classroom of 4 children ages 1 to 3 years old, while motivating them to use their mental capacities and exercise their imaginationFollow The Academy’s daily schedule of activities to ensure the safety and well-being of the childrenImplement The Academy's curriculum to ensure continued growth of the childrenObserve children’s interactions and promote a spirit of concordEvaluate children’s performance to ensure they are on the right learning trackCommunicate regularly with The Academy's Co-Directors, providing updates on each child's progressIdentify behavioral problems and determine the appropriate course of action with support from The Academy's Co-DirectorsAdhere to teaching standards and safety regulations as established by the state of Connecticut and The AcademyEnsure the daily care of every child by following all licensing guidelines and implementing all of the standards set forth by The AcademyMaintain direct communication with The Academy's Co-Directors to achieve success for each child in the class

QualificationsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood EducationProven experience as a child care/daycare teacher leading a classroom (minimum 3 years of experience required)Fluent in English: reading, writing and speakingFirst Aid & CPR certification a plus; certification upon hiring is a requirement by the stateMust be at least 21 years of ageExperience creating educational lesson plans is a plusExcellent knowledge of child development and up-to-date education methodsPatience, flexibility, and a genuine love for childrenStrong communication and time management skillsInterest in curriculum development and the discovery of new teaching materialsMust be comfortable with dogs
